I am most interested in the natural world and all of the textures, shapes and colors it has to offer, and enjoy replicating these elements of nature realistically. I focus on capturing nature’s smallest details, not only to train myself to observe these subtle nuances, but also to show the viewer what they may not notice in the world around them. Immense care is put into accurately capturing details and surfaces of my subjects within my sculptural and ceramic work in order to create instantly recognizable and realistic looking pieces.
I have a childlike enthusiasm for nature and all it embodies, especially wildlife. This is due to early memories of my mother taking my siblings and me for nature hikes in the woods and creek surrounding our home. Those memories significantly inspire my artistic endeavors, along with my desire to pass my youthful eagerness and fascination to the viewer through my artwork.
